Chiropractic Adjustment/Manipulation:
The goal of chiropractic adjustment/manipulation is to correct spinal subluxations or misalignments detected during the examination. To do this, the doctor applies pressure to the vertebra and “unlocks” it from its improper position which will allow the vertebra to align itself and move correctly. The muscles that are connected to the subluxated vertebra get used to their position and have a tendency to pull the vertebra back out of alignment which is why it takes more than one adjustment before the adjustment “holds” and the vertebra settles into its proper alignment. Once the spine is aligned properly, health is restored to the joint, muscles and nerves and the body can function at its optimal level.

Physiotherapy:
This therapy is most effective when used in conjunction with chiropractic adjustments to help rehabilitate muscles and joints. Some therapies are performed by hand while

others are done by machine. These therapies may include: heat or cold therapy, manual traction, mechanical traction, interferential muscle stimulation and ultrasound therapy.

Corrective Exercises:
To help patients recondition themselves after an injury by stretching and strengthening specific muscles to prevent the risk of re-injury. We create a resistance workout that is specific to each patient’s need that will help reinforce postural muscles as well as increase core strength, flexibility and balance.

What areas can be helped by chiropractic care?
The entire spine can be adjusted as well as knees, ankles, shoulders, elbows, wrists, and the jaw. Any joint that moves can become misaligned and gentle adjustment of the area can get the joint or vertebra moving properly again. Dr. Algrim and Dr. Tomczak both specialize in spinal adjustments as well as joint adjustment.
